Where is the Time Going

Image
11 months seem to have flown by without us realizing! You are becoming your own little person with definite likes and dislikes. Vegetables - you love them! Green ones the most. You'll eat all the Peas before you touch the carrots, all the spinach before the noodles and all the broccoli before the chicken. But when you're done, you're done. You're favorite toys have changed a little. You still love Barbara, but also enjoy toting around a fire truck puzzle piece, and the bath ducks! You adore the whole little family. You've figured out how to turn on your favorite shows on the tablet and how to aim the remote at the TV while pushing random buttons. You will usually wave when asked too (usually), and sometimes bring us toys when asked. Following directions isn't really your thing yet, but you normally look at us when we ask you a question and if you don't want to do what you've been asked you'll giggle and wave. (it's so hard not to laugh). You con...

Nine Months!

Image
Nine months has sure gone by in a blur (as evidenced by some of the blurry photos shared here). Our Monkey Moo has become quite the dare devil now that she's figured out this crawling business. She chases the dogs, follows us around the house and is quicker than we ever thought possible! Just this past week she started pulling herself up on the furniture, but getting back down usually results in her just letting go.  She has 2 teeth on the bottom and is working on 2 more on top, and is still eating all the food. Her favorite game is pulling everything out of her bottom drawers and she loves Skyping with her cousin Lila.

8 Months Monkey Moo!

Image
Happy 8 months Monkey Moo! You are so much fun! You are waving and sitting on your own, getting up on all fours and have almost mastered the butt scooch. You say "my mama" and "momom" a lot which fills my heart with so much joy. You LOVE food. It doesn't matter what daddy puts in front of you you will eat it! Chinese food, ALL THE MEAT (especially if it has bacon in it), lol and ALL THE VEGGIES! You are not a fan of baby food and would much rather be eating what we are. Ramsey is your favorite dog and puts up with all your hair pulling. You truly are the best gift ever! ❤️❤️❤️

7 Months!

Image
Happy 7 months Monkey Moo! You are a raspberry blowing, zerbert giving, slobbery little lady, who we're pretty sure is working on teething. But we've said that before so we'll see! You babble so much these days, there's a lot on your mind and some days you'll talk all the way home from daycare. You are sitting up on your own now, and can scooch backwards on your belly on the hard floor and pull yourself forward on the carpet by grabbing fistfulls of the rug, you love to explore! Food is your favorite thing, the look of pure joy that you get when you try something new just melts our hearts. Turkey Pot Pie is your favorite food right now, home made and blended just so. Daddy let you taste ice cream too and at first you weren't too sure, but once you realized how nummy it was you decided it was great! You know what the cherry on top is though? Your first word is Momomom! We love you and all the joy you have brought to our lives little lady! Can't wait to see wh...

Happy Half Birthday!

Image
6 months already?!?! Happy half birthday Monkey Moo! You finally figured out how to roll back from your tummy to your back and you really roll everywhere now! You've also figured out how to slide around the living room on your belly in the Superman pose using your arms to push yourself backwards. You were so proud of yourself the first time you made it accross the room! You've been eating more home made baby foods and seem to prefer veggies over fruit, but like tart fruits over sweet ones ( pineapple 😋) You are so very close to sitting up on your own. You'll pull yourself up to a sitting position if we hold your hands, and can sit for a few seconds before you topple over. Today was your 6th month check up, 4 shots (and I still cried over each one - I know babers, ouchie) And we've started some sleep training... Mostly we're training me. Not to pick you up each time you squeak, cause babers I need more than 2 hours of sleep at a time. Night one and we've made pr...

5 months!

Image
Can you believe our little MonkeyMoo is 5 months already? She's just barely hit 16lbs and is about 25 inches of pure wiggle worm. She's perfected her rolling skills from back to tummy and has rolled a few more times from tummy to back but generally gets stuck on her tummy and needs help getting back over. Her favorite food is butternut squash and she adores when daddy feeds her, "helping" by holding his hand and guiding him to her mouth (it's the cutest thing ever)! She's laughing more and more, the best squeals usually come from a game of nomnomnom (pretending to munch on her tummy or neck). She has started reaching for people, especially when she wants mommy and daddy to pick her up. She is learning how to use her hands and it's facinating to watch her work things out. Recently she's started holding our cheeks ❤️ This past month brought her very first camping trip and her very first out doors bath in a bucket which she adored!

4 months, already!?!?!?!

Image
Oh little babers, will you please slow down? 4 months got here much too fast for my liking. I just want you to stay itty bitty a wee bit longer. You can do that,  right? This past month our monkey moo has rolled over from her back to her tummy several times while on her very first boat ride, and decided she was done with that trick. She rolled from her tummy to her back twice in her crib, and is  done with that too. She's blowing raspberries and sticking out her tongue and pretty much an all around slobber monster! And along with babbling more she's started saying uh uh uh when she's over an activity. She loves chomping on her fingers and just started sucking on her thumb. She so loves touching our faces especially if you kiss her hand or give it a raspberry! She also discovered a love of swimming which makes mommy and daddy so incredibly happy! I mean who doesn't want a little mermaid baby?

3 months!

Image
My oh my! Where is the time going? We have a three month old baby on our hands today! She's turning into quite the social butterfly! She loves to smile and babble at people, especially her mommy and daddy. She absolutely adores bathtime, but can't stand getting out of the tub, but who likes to be cold anyways? During tummy time she's getting better at raising her head and chest off the ground. When she's on her back she's stretching out her legs and kicking, and at night she looks like she's trying to do baby karate in her bassinet! She's learning how to grasp toys, especially the ones that are dangling in front of her. She's enjoying her teething toys and drooling all over the place. Heaven help us but we think Little Miss is getting her first tooth soon. LOL Right now she absolutely loves tiny baby bums on Netflix which her daddy found for her. It's an adorable little show or two that sings nursery rhymes and introduces shapes and numbers It's ...

My work buddy

Image
Hey babers! Last week on monday was your first day of daycare! My dear friend Sarah is going to watch you while I work, and you seem to love hanging out with her and her 2 little girls. But did you know how blessed I am to have a great boss who understands the importance of family? About 10 minutes after I dropped you off, Manny called to make sure I was coming back for my first day of work. I told him yes! He then asked if I was bringing you and I replied no, I had just dropped you off. He says "oh no! You have to bring her!" And then explained that he thinks I should just being you to work with me each day because you belong with me! We've had a few more conversations along these lines since then, and he's admitted that he wishes he could go back in time and spend more time with his kiddos. He just doesn't want me to miss out on anything. So now, Mondays and Fridays you hang out with Sarah and the rest of the week you come to work with me. You love work! The o...

2 months!

Image
You turned 2 months on June 5th! You have become quite the little ham, you smile at mommy and daddy so much and have even chuckled a time or two. You love to talk and babble and you've recently discovered your hands! It's so much fun watching you try to fit your whole fist into your mouth! You had your first round of shots this month. You were not a fan. We both cried, then you fell asleep. Mommy and daddy took advantage of your nap and got some chores done, thinking you'd be awake in an hour or so... You woke up crying. We could tell you were in pain, so after feeding you, daddy gave you some baby Tylenol. You and I fell asleep on the couch. Daddy woke me up around 8pm and suggested you and I go lay in bed, and when you wake up in an hour we would put you in jammies and into your own bed. Next thing I know my alarm is going off! You and I slept a solid 7.5 hours!while I'm sad you were in pain, I am so greatful for the much needed rest! #evenzombiesneedsleep

Binky Baby

Image
We've been trying to switch out your binkies to the Smilo brand because they are better for your mouth. As a kid I had a narrow pallet and 3 sets of baby teeth, causing me to have to have several teeth pulled, and as an adult I have a cross bite. Babe, I don't want you to go through that! So daddy investigated binkies and found Smilo. These binkies flatten when you suck them and will help to stretch your pallet out. BUT... You hate them! Tonight you sucked on the new binky for about 10 minutes and fell asleep making disgusted faces. You woke up about 30 minutes later crying and would not take the new binky for anything! I gave you your old binky back and you quickly grabbed on to the tether and would not let go! You are too stinking cute little miss! I love you so!

Snuggles

Image
Sweet little miss, I adore our snuggles! You definitely have a knack for making mommy and daddy feel special. When you get fussy all we have to do is pick you up. I'll put you up to my shoulder and you'll put your little arms around my neck and snuggle in. Sometimes it's all you need to fall asleep. Next week on June 4th I go back to work and you'll be spending your days with my sweet friend Sarah and her two little girls. I know you'll be in good hands while I'm working, but a large part of me is so sad to be giving up my days of snuggling you whenever you need it, and breastfeeding you full time. These precious moments have slipped by too fast and I will miss them with all of my being. I have cherished our 2 months of bonding so much! Mommy loves you Babers

No Rest for the Weary

Little Miss, you will not go to sleep tonight. Every time I think you're out and lay you down your eyes pop right back open and you start crying. Your diaper is dry, you've eaten, we've rocked and patted, and walked and bounced. Read story's, sang lullaby's. And still. Wide. Freaking. Awake. Go to bed child. I told you babies under 2 feet tall should be asleep right now. You thought that was funny and graced me with an ear to ear grin. What's a girl to do?

Fussy lady

Image
Let's be honest babers, you've been super fussy. Eating every few hours, not sleeping well, which means I'm not sleeping well either, and crying. A lot. As a new mom, it's hard to know what your new baby needs. I know what your cries mean, but sometimes you cry and nothing works. We went to a breastfeeding support group last week to work on your latch and the moderator suggested taking you to a chiropractor. Your little hands are always in a fist and scrunched up by your face, and you have a difficult time latching on the left because you prefer to turn your head right. I was skeptical. So was daddy. But we did it anyway. There has to be something that will make you happy! So Tuesday we skipped support group and went to meet Dr. Chelsea at Thrive Chiropractic. She is so good with you! Respectful of your tiny body and so gentle! She did a full body adjustment on you and even taught mommy some stretches and exercises to do with you. You're favorite is what we call ...

One month

Image
Hi baby E, tomorrow you'll be 1 month old! You are such a sweet little thing. Daddy and I are so in love with you! In this short month you've completely stolen our hearts and we can't imagine life without you in it. You love to lay on daddy's chest and pull his beard, and when you're not making him cringe you're gracing him with your adorable smile. You also gave him your first chuckle yesterday. Not quite a laugh yet, but he'll ask you if something is funny and you'll grin and chuckle at him. You really are a doll. You've been working on tummy time and have become quite strong, holding your head up for over 10 seconds at a time. You love to eat and you seem to have hit a growth spurt. You currently weigh 8 pounds and 9 ounces and are 22 inches long! You turn your head when you hear mommy or daddy talk to you, and you love listening to music and dancing around the living room with mommy. At birth your hair was dark, but has since lightened to an almo...

Please don't ever grow up

Image
Oh darlin' please don't ever grow up, just stay this little. My favorite moments are the closeness I feel when I breast feed you, the feel of your soft skin on mine and the sweet way you hold my breast with your tiny little hands as you fill your belly. I know these moments are fleeting. You'll grow more and more each day, changing from my itty bitty newborn into each new stage of life. I'll cherish every moment, but know that this you right now, making snorting pigglet sounds while you eat, this you who has snack attacks and feeds for a few minutes just to calm down between meals, this you that likes to be changed after a wet diaper, just to have a clean diaper to poop in only moments later. This you is my favorite you right now. Love you bigger than any words, Love Mommy

You're Here!

Image
You're really truly here! I had contractions at night for two days before your birth, so sleep was difficult for both myself and daddy who held my hand through each one. Then on Wednesday the 4th daddy and Gigi and Grandpa Schaub ran to the store. While they were gone the contractions got stronger and closer together. When daddy got home I was in tears from the pain and we called the Dr on call to see if we should go to the hospital yet. Doctor said yes! At the hospital we were seen in labor and delivery triage where we watched the contractions for about an hour before being admitted at 3 centimeters dialated. In the labor room daddy made sure all our family knew you were on the way and your grandma's and aunt Darci all rushed down to be with us. Your daddy tells the labor story so much better than I can at this point because he was awake for it all. But I ended up deciding I wanted an epidural due to the pain of the contractions. The first one went in incorrectly and only numb...

That is all.

Baby Dresses

Image
Do you remember the blog about me being a little worried that you wouldn't have anything knitted by my Grandma Porter, and how releived I was when your Great Grandma Warp crocheted you a blanket and matching bonnet? Well Gramdma Shannon stopped by tonight to drop off some things she found and guess what she brought?!?! Oh Ev I'm so excited! She found a sweater and matching bonnet that Grandma Porter made me when I was a baby! And that's not all!!!! I told you I was excited!!! She found several dresses I wore as a baby, including one that she wore too! Man, I wish I had that picture! My mom's mom had a bi-fold, gold picture frame, that held two photos. On one side was a black and white photo of Grandma Shannon in the dress and on the other side was a color photo of me at the same age in the same pink dress! We looked like twins! I absolutely can not wait to put YOU in the dress!

I Peed....

Yep. It happened. That embarrassing moment when I realized I no longer had control over my own bladder. Instead, you, my pint sized little lady, get to decide with a bounce of your noggin. Friday at work I dribbled a little down there. I waddled to the bathroom, went a little and waddled back to my desk. You moved, and I dribbled some more. Then I googled how to know when your water breaks. It could be a slow leak.... Ok, maybe that's what's going on! I should call the doctor! Sooo.... A few minutes later Doctor Woods is telling me it could be a slow leak! (I knew it!!!) And if it's not too much trouble we should stop by the hospital at labor and delivery so they can run a couple of tests to verify whether or not my water broke. Daddy and I were both at work, so we start packing up our things, taking our time cause doctor said "if it's not too much trouble", which definitely means there's no need to rush. Meanwhile our co-workers are scrambling, saying the...
